What are the qualifications of your staff members?
Park Lawn Preschool Inc. hires qualified Registered Early Childhood Educators and Assistants to support our programs.
What do I need to bring for my child once they are enrolled in child care?
Rest Time: Blanket, pillow or soft toy
Diapering: diapers, wipes, creams
Toileting: extra changes of clothing, underwear
Is there a waiting list that I can place my child on?
Our child care centres hold their own waiting lists and may be very long. Please complete the form found on Waiting List page to request to put your child on our waiting list.
How can I visit the centre?
Parents are invited to contact the centre`s supervisor directly to arrange for a centre tour.
Do children go outdoors?
Children are required to go outdoors for at least two hours each day, weather permitting as per the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014.
Does my child need to be toilet trained?
Your child does not need to be toilet trained to be enrolled in our child care programs. If your child is not toilet trained, our staff will work with you and communicate when they see signs of readiness.
Do I have to bring food for my child?
Park Lawn Preschool Inc.`s child care programs are fully catered by Yummy Catering. Snacks and Meals are provided throughout the day to meet the Canada`s Food Guide. Outside food is not permitted into our child care programs as we have many children that have severe food allergies. All Park Lawn Preschool Inc.`s child care centres strive to be nut free.
If your child is on a special dietary restriction, please let the staff know so that we are able to request special meals with our catering company.
Does my child have to be immunized?
It is recommended that children be fully immunized before they enroll in our programs, however we respect parent`s decisions to not have their children immunized.
In the event an outbreak occurs at the centre, the child will not be admitted into the program until the outbreak is over.
What are your hours of operation?
Park Lawn Preschool Inc.’s child care centres are open Monday – Friday from 7:00am – 6:00pm.
Are there any times throughout the year that your child care centres are closed?
All Park Lawn Preschool Inc.’s child care centres are open through the year except for Statutory Holidays and Public Holidays.
What happens if my child is sick?
We recommend that if your child is sick or is too ill to participate in the program that they are kept at home to help prevent the spread of germs and viruses.
Parents will be informed when their child has a fever and is too ill to participate in program, when the child is vomiting, and/or has diarrhea.
Do parents have to pay fees for days that their child does not attend due to illness or vacation?
Parents are required to pay child care fees even if their child is absent due to illness or vacation.
Does your child care centre offer fee subsidy spaces?
All Park Lawn Preschool Inc’s child care centres accept families on Fee Subsidy with the City of Toronto. If you would like to get more information on Fee Subsidy, please call (416) 392-kids or www.toronto.ca/children
My child does not sleep, are they required to take a nap?
As per the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, children up to 5 years old that are in attendance in our child care programs daily are required to have a rest period not exceeding two hours after the mid-day meal. Children who are unable to sleep are permitted to engage in quiet activities as described in the Day Nurseries Act.
What is the ratio in my child’s class?
Toddler Program: 1 teacher to 5 children (upto max of 15 Toddlers)
Preschool Program: 1 teacher to 8 children (upto max of 24 Preschoolers/room)
Kindergarten Program: 1 teacher to 13 children (upto max of 26 Kindergartens/room)
School Age Program: 1 teacher to 15 children (may go upto max of 30 School Agers/room)
